Recently, Encounter has adopted the community of Sesibche (Say-seeb-chay) near Coban, Guatemala by partnering with an organization called Food for the Hungry (FH). FH has staff on the ground committed to the long-term development and implementation of poverty alleviation in Sesibche and the surrounding communities. They are investing in the community, developing relationships with leaders and families and helping them to eradicate child malnutrition and poverty through health and nutrition, education, livelihood and leadership and disaster training . Encounter has committed to pray for Sesibche, sponsor the children of Sesibche and to fund an annual project. In addition, we will be taking annual trips to visit this community starting this summer 2019. We invite you to pray for Sesibche, Food for the Hungry and our team this summer. Pray that God will continue to open up new avenues and opportunities to demonstrate the hope of the gospel, and that our team would be humble encouragers and supporters as we enter their community.
By investing in the mission of Encounter Church in Guatemala, you are helping team members with their expenses, which includes transportation, airfare, lodging and meals, as well has helping us to fund the $8,000 toward the health center that we will be helping to build. All gifts to Encounter Church are directed to the General Fund and may be used toward the mission of the church at the discretion of the leadership. We appreciate your desire or suggestion. You may include your preference by adding a team members name to the memo line while making your donation.
