Week 3: Loving Jesus

What is the best gift you’ve ever received? Who gave it to you? Why was it the best?

Read Luke 1:26-38, 46-55.

It had been 400 years of silence for Israel. No prophets, no kings.  Likely Israel was asking “where is God?”  But the faithful continued to live righteously awaiting the fulfillment of the promised Messiah.  In Luke 1, the longing for the Messiah was over.  The righteous prayers were answered.  It probably looked different than Mary expected, but she immediately humbled herself to the work of the Holy Spirit in her life.  She believed and obeyed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her.  She magnified the Lord.  She knew firsthand what it meant to love Jesus and how loving Jesus changes our whole world.
