Encounter Church of Mission Viejo is seeking a kingdom-minded, spirit-filled, passionate, creative worship leader that loves to build people and teams.  We are looking for an individual who loves to make things happen, would love to be part of a collaborative team and plant roots in a community for many years.  We are looking for the right individual and fit therefore we are open to either a full-time Worship & Creative Arts Pastor or part-time Sunday Morning Worship Leader.  Encounter Church invites people to encounter a life-changing God and become passionate followers of Christ.   We are a three-year old non-denominational mobile church that meets at Philip Reilly Elementary School in Mission Viejo Sunday mornings at 10am.

Job Descriptions

Associate Pastor of Worship & Creative Arts

Be a worshipper with a heart to develop worship leaders and other artists that are humble and hungry to draw people to God.  
Champion Encountering God.  This is a Full-time Pastoral Position. 
Approximately 40 Hours a week which includes Sunday Mornings, mid-week meetings, preparation & team development


Key Results Area #1: Personal Development

  • Maintains purity and an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship.
  • Responsible and accountable to the senior staff.  Together you will set goals to help you develop as a leader, pastor, musician and worshipper.
  • Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with our vision and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.

Key Results Area #2: Worship Leading

  • Serve as lead worshiper in all worship services.
  • Prepare worship sets for weekly worship services.
  • Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day. 
  • Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services.
  • Develop creative ideas and implement them in services including but not limited to art, drama and video.
  • Lead worship for events and retreats.
  • Choose songs that draw and teach people to be worshippers.

Key Results Area #3: Worship Service Planning & Administration

  • Initiate and oversee production of special services including but not limited to Easter Services, Christmas Services, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Vision Sunday, etc.
  • Become familiar with the worship department budget and take on its responsibility.
  • Oversee the organization of volunteers and schedule team members through Planning Center for all worship, sound and media teams.
  • Be trained in worship service planning, to eventually lead worship service planning meetings.
  • Update Planning Center with all announcements, service elements, and timing.  Print and distribute for services.
  • Learn ProPresenter and prepare Sunday playlists, graphics, message notes and all other elements in preparation for the service

Key Results Area #4: Building Teams

  • Identify the necessary teams to carry out the worship areas.
  • Provide Pastoral care for all teams under your care specifically but not limited to: worship, drama, sound and music ministry
  • Introduce our worship teams and choirs to worship training provided by other ministries, books, and conferences.
  • Build contacts and relationships with local musicians, studios, and clubs for both evangelistic and staffing purposes.
  • Identify new worship leaders and develop them in their gifts.
  • Identify worship leaders and provide opportunities to develop them and release them in worship.

Key Results Area #5: Music

  • In conjunction with the senior staff, develop a music strategy to fulfill the music vision of Encounter.
  • The music strategy will eventually include: practice space, music lessons
  • Develop musicians and forms bands that will be available to play in our community. 

 


Part-Time Worship Leader
